ROCKS Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO)

Improving Patients Outcomes after Kidney Stone Surgery

What is ROCKS PRO?

As part of MUSIC, the Reducing Operative Complications after Kidney stones (ROCKS) initiative aims to improve the quality of care specifically for kidney stone patients, with one of the primary objectives to reduce modifiable Emergency Department visits following kidney stone surgery, such as ureteroscopy (URS) and shockwave lithotripsy (SWL).  ROCKS patient reported outcomes (PRO) will allow urologists to better understand the patient experience and develop best practice and recovery care for men and women undergoing surgical interventions in hopes of improving care at the urologist, practice and statewide levels.

Specific Aims of ROCKS PRO
  • Improve patient outcomes following ureteroscopy and shockwave lithotripsy.  MUSIC plans to measure and improve outcomes through data collection, performance feedback, and sharing of best practices.
  • Develop ways to improve post-operative outcomes through the collection and analysis of PRO surveys for MUSIC patients by tracking their recovery after undergoing kidney stone surgery.
